Therapeutic Ultrasound

This last week we finally got our new therapeutic ultrasound machine after our old one stopped working. We thought it would be a perfect time to explain how therapeutic ultrasound works and how it can help you with your back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, or other pains you are having.

Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality used to help treat pain by helping to increase the speed of tissue healing and also enhance the ability of tissue healing. It does this by using sound energy to increase the vibration in tissue which causes heat generation deep into the tissue. One benefit of this is that we can generate heat deeper into the joints and muscles in order to get tissue regeneration in the injured parts of your body. 

Along with just using therapeutic ultrasound to help with healing we also add biofreeze gel to the use of the ultrasound. With this addition in a process called phonophoresis which is therapeutic ultrasound combined with a topical agent we can help your body absorb more of the gel and get more relief for your muscles, joints, ligaments, and other injured areas of your body. 

We know that along with our other treatments of adjustments, exercises, stretches, manual therapy, etc. we can get you back to feeling as good as new.
