Do you have shoulder pain? Are you sure it's from a shoulder injury because neck injuries commonly cause shoulder pain. Everyday someone in our clinic complains of shoulder pain but really the pain is in the space between the shoulder blade and the spine, caused by a neck injury. This is what we would call interscapular pain.
Why Does My Shoulder Hurt from a Neck Injury? Our muscles get tight around the injury as a defense mechanism. Our bodies are telling us not to use an injured muscle by tightening the surrounding muscles. This makes them so that they are uncomfortable to utilize. In the case of certain neck injuries, the delicate area is so close to the shoulder it can deceive you into thinking that you hurt your shoulder and not your neck. This type of pain starts with stiffness and malalignment in the neck and upper back, and the associated muscles. See what chiropractic treatment can do for your interscapular shoulder pain. You may be surprised at how effective it can be. Our Roseville chiropractors can help you get back on track.

What Is Sciatica? Sciatica is an irritation of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and sacral nerve roots. Typically, pain goes down the back of the thigh and the leg/calf and into the feet. Sciatica is a "pinched nerve" and can be caused by a disc bulge, a tight piriformis muscle, etc. Chiropractic treatment is a good first line of defense. Exercise, stretching, and therapies such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, cold laser or traction, are also helpful. What Is a Sacroiliac Sprain? Just below where the lower back stops, you'll find the sacrum and pelvic bones. They are connected at the sacroiliac joint. If a sprain occurs at this joint, swelling and radiating pain occurs into the buttocks and thigh, but usually doesn't go past the knee. If you have pain near the dimples just above the buttock, you probably have a sacroiliac sprain. Remember, you can have sciatica and a sacroiliac sprain at the same time. Our Roseville chiropractors can help you reduce your pain and get you back on track. Your Roseville Chiropractors - at ASIC Scoliosis is a side curve of the spine. Normally when you look at the spine from the back it appears relatively straight. If the spine has a significant side curve, usually over 12 degrees, it is considered scoliosis.
A recent study with scoliosis and chiropractic demonstrated a 10-17 degree reduction in spinal curvatures in patients with scoliosis curves ranging from 38-50 degrees. This is a significant reduction in a curvature that can result is respiratory and internal compression. This study also demonstrated a 7 percent increase in respiratory function. Bracing, although sometimes necessary, results in muscle weakness as well as a lot of difficulty with normal activities of daily living, especially school. Results from bracing vary greatly. Bracing is though to be successful if the curve does not progress or decreases by 5 percent. This condition most often affects young girls 8-16 years old, although boys are often affected. After bracing, surgery may be still be necessary. If your child has been diagnosed with a scoliosis or you as an adult have scoliosis try a few visits to a chiropractor and see if that is part of your solution. May sure that exercise and stretching is also used. |
